EXTRA FASHION STYLE FOR EXTRA-ORDINARY MUMS

You may be a mum, but that doesn’t mean you need to fade into the background. Crank up the extra fashion, bring out all the sequins, the glitter and the punchy brights; and discover a life less ordinary.

I think every woman hits that point when her flame starts to flicker wildly, desperate not to burn out. You hit your mid 30s and are suddenly told by society to sit quietly in the corner and watch life pass you by. Even more so when you become a mum, juggling new responsibilities, while trying to find your voice again and discover your new identity.

I recently bought this sequin Asos jacket and am in love with its unnecessary extra-ness

I’ve spoken on here before about how to dress as a new mum, but I think this need for expression in how you dress continues way after your kids are toddling.  Ultimately, how you dress has a huge impact on how you feel. So you have to be intentional and step that bit further past your comfort zone to push your  style boundaries.

In taking steps to go that bit extra in how you dress and ultimately present yourself, you’ll bolster your confidence levels. Tackling one less insecurity and one step closer to full self expression. Where you literally give no…. This is not a trend, this is a lifestyle choice, that sees you showing off individuality and setting yourself up as a lifelong fashion maverick.

HOW

How to rock the extra fashion look you ask? Well, it all depends on your comfort levels.

EASY

Start small with a bright lipstick or neon nails. Then, take it up a notch with some glittery or coloured eyeliner. Choose fancy footwear and socks that are colourful, sparkly or patterned.  Lastly, try supersizing your accessories, big statement earrings and fierce sunglasses will give  your outfits some much needed in your face.

SHOP  – Collection 2000 Glitter Eyeliner, Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matt Lipsticks, Topshop earrings

MEDIUM

It just takes one statement piece in your outfit to nail the extra vibe. Effortless wins are jackets, trousers or sweaters in fantastical colours, prints and textures. There’s so much to be said for a sassy slogan print or a neon jacket, prints on trousers are always legendary and as for a popping jumspuit…..#tickticktick

SHOP – Pretty Little Thing Printed Trouser , Monki Denim Jacket  , Zilla Kids Sweatshirt

HARDCORE

This is where I sit on the spectrum. It’s like a wake up and slay state of being, where I wear everything without filter, just based on feeling fantastic. It basically means, all of the above at once, if I want to. So, think OTT , clashing prints and unapologetic colours, mixed with blinding sparkle, voluminous puffas and ruffles AND the neon pink lipstick too.
